On Monday, 15 October 2018, Adelaide businessman Mr Wayne Owen took over the ownership of Ruston Roses at Renmark in South Australia, home of the HRIA heritage Tea, China and Noisette rose collection. We are reliably informed that the property name will remain, as will its sole employee, Susie, the gardener, an invaluable asset to any new owner. The importance of the collection as a living museum/reference library was stressed, and Mr. Owen has agreed to organize weeding, watering and fertilizing the roses, while HRIA will organize the pruning weekend for August 2019. Mr. Owen has given 12 months for both he and HRIA to decide if this is a mutually agreeable arrangement. Stay tuned for any future developments.
